Newskampus Special Ocean Innovation Platform

On 7th June 2016, the University of Bordeaux and the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) presented the results of the opportunity study for the design of the “Ocean Innovation Platform” project. This initial study derives from the collaboration agreement signed in November 2015 between the two universities, the Agglomération Sud Pays Basque (ASPB), Bidasoa Activa and Eurosima (surf industry cluster). The ASPB leads the “Ocean Experiences” cross-border territorial strategy based on the economy of action and water sports that cover the Hossegor-Zarautz area. “Ocean Experiences” aims to build a cross-border ecosystem in this sector revolving around 4 themes:
-Ocean Tech (guidance of start-up from the sector through the Bluebuilder accelerator)     
-Ocean Fab (with a future Fab Lab, among others, in Saint-Jean-de-Luz)     
-Ocean Living Lab (first cross border living lab that seeks to create euro-regional strategic collaborations and make open innovation a development driver in this field, with the user at its heart)     
-Ocean Campus Innovation (whose backbone initiative is the “ocean innovation platform” devoted to training and research led by the University of Bordeaux and the University of the Basque Country).
Iñaki Goirizelaia, Chancellor of the UPV/EHU, declared that know how and training has no borders and the UPV/EHU is committed to continue working on this project which is part of the joint strategy of the two universities. Manuel Tuñón de Lara, Chancellor of the University of Bordeaux, highlighted the responsibility of this University to promote the territory to which it belongs and the opportunity that this project offers to build an ecosystem that aspires to be an international benchmark. Now it is a question of moving on to a feasibility stage, exploring the initial opportunities raised in this study, focusing on the design of a Master's programme based on the existing offer and summer courses with the “Ocean Experiences” stamp. These initiatives will be developed in conjunction with companies of the sector, relating training to research in order to respond to the challenges faced (materials, management, health etc.).


Bordeleko Unibertsitateak eta Universidad del País Vasco/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitateak (UPV/EHU) 2016ko ekainaren 7an aurkeztu zituzten “Ozeano Berrikuntza Plataforma” proiektua diseinatzeko aukera-azterlanaren emaitzak. Lehenengo azterlan hau 2015eko azaroan bi unibertsitateen, Hego Lapurdiko Hirigunearen (ASPB), Bidasoa Bizirik agentziaren eta EuroSIMAren (Surf industrien klusterra) artean sinatutako lankidetza-hitzarmenaren emaitza da. ASPB da Hossegor-Zarautz eremuko ekintza kirolen eta uretakoen ekonomiaren arloko mugaz gaindiko “Ocean Experiences” estrategiaren buru, eta estrategia honen helburua sektore honetan mugaz gaindiko ekosistema bat eratzea da 4 ardatzen inguruan:
-Ocean Tech (Blue builder azeleratzailearen bidez lagundutako startup-a)
-Ocean Fab (fab lab bat izango da, besteak beste, Donibane Lohitzunen)
-Ocean Living Lab (mugaz gaindiko lehenengo living lab honek helburu du erregioen artean lankidetza estrategikoak ezartzea eta berrikuntza irekia arlo honetan garapenaren eragile bihurtzea erabiltzailea barne dela)
-Ocean Campus Innovation (ekimen egituratzailea “ozeano berrikuntza plataforma” da, prestakuntzaren eta ikerketaren arloan diharduena Bordeleko eta Euskal Herriko Unibertsitateek zuzenduta). 
UPV/EHUko errektore Iñaki Goirizelaiak adierazi zuen ezagutzak eta prestakuntzak ez dutela mugarik, eta UPV/EHU bi unibertsitateen estrategia bateratukoa den proiektu honetan lanean jarraitzearen aldekoa dela. Bordeleko Unibertsitateko errektore Manuel Tuñon de Larak, berriz, nabarmendu zuen unibertsitate horrek lurraldea dinamizatzeko erantzukizuna duela eta proiektu hau aukera ona dela nazioartean erreferente izan nahi duen ekosistema bat eratzeko. Hemendik aurrera egingarritasun-faseari ekin behar zaio, eta azterlan honetan planteatutako lehenengo aukerak aztertu behar dira arreta, batez ere, lehendik dagoen eskaintzatik abiatuta master bat diseinatzean eta “Ocean Experiences” zigiludun udako ikastaroetan jarrita. Ekimen hauek sektoreko enpresekin batera landuko dira, prestakuntza eta ikerketa lotu eta aurre egin beharreko erronkei erantzuna emateko (materialak, kudeaketa, osasuna, eta abar).


El 7 de junio de 2016, la Universidad de Burdeos y la Universidad del País Vasco/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea (UPV/EHU) presentaron los resultados del estudio de oportunidad para el diseño del proyecto “Plataforma Innovación Océano”. Este primer estudio deriva del convenio de colaboración firmado en noviembre de 2015 entre las dos universidades, la Agglomération Sud Pays Basque (ASPB), Bidasoa Activa y Eurosima (cluster de la industria del surf). La ASPB lidera la estrategia territorial transfronteriza “Ocean Experiences” en torno a la economía de los deportes de acción y acuáticos que cubre la zona Hossegor-Zarautz. “Ocean Experiences” pretende construir un ecosistema transfronterizo en este sector en torno a 4 ejes:
-Ocean Tech (acompañamiento de start-up del sector a través del acelerador Bluebuilder)     
-Ocean Fab (con un futuro fab lab, entre otros, en San Juan de Luz)     
-Ocean Living Lab (primer living lab transfronterizo que busca crear colaboraciones estratégicas eurorregionales y hacer de la innovación abierta un motor de desarrollo en este campo con el usuario en su seno)     
-Ocean Campus Innovation (cuya iniciativa vertebradora es la “plataforma innovación océano” dedicada a la formación y a la investigación liderada por la Universidades de Burdeos y del País Vasco). Su sede se ubicará en el emblemático Fuerte de Sokoa (foto), localizado en la bahía de San Juan de Luz, siendo también uno de los lugares símbolicos del campus eurorregional Euskampus-Bordeaux.
Iñaki Goirizelaia, rector de la UPV/EHU, declaró que el conocimiento y la formación no tenían fronteras y que la UPV/EHU apostaba por seguir trabajando en este proyecto que pertenece la estrategia conjunta de las dos universidades. Manuel Tuñón de Lara, rector de la Universidad de Burdeos, resaltó la responsabilidad de esta Universidad por dinamizar el territorio en el que está anclada y la oportunidad que este proyecto representa para configurar un ecosistema que aspira a ser un referente internacional. Se trata ahora de pasar a una fase de factibilidad, explorando las primeras oportunidades planteadas en este estudio, centrándose en particular en el diseño de un Máster  a partir de la oferta existente y en cursos de verano con el sello “Ocean Experiences”. Estas iniciativas se van a trabajar junto con las empresas del sector, vinculando la formación a la investigación para responder a los retos que afrontan (materiales, management, salud etc…).
