Master in Innovative Enology, UPV/EHU

THE DOUBLE MASTER'S DEGREE IN INNOVATIVE ENOLOGY FROM THE UPV/EHU AND THE UNIVERSITY OF BORDEAUX will be an Inter-university Master’s Degree in the 2020-2021 edition with the Public University of Navarre

The Master's Degree in Innovative Oenology will provide the most recent knowledge related to the sector, as well as the latest trends in oenology and in the management and sale of wine products. It is one of the few Official Master's Degrees offered in Spain that specialises in providing comprehensive training on oenology and on the management of businesses in the wine sector. It has specialised teaching staff for this purpose (both from the UPV/EHU and from other Spanish and foreign universities), as well as prestigious professionals from the sector.

Access to a double master's degree from the University of Bordeaux at no extra cost: The double degree is aimed for students:


- With a degree qualification in Oenology (Viticulture / Oenology)
- With a degree qualification in MBA/MK/FI/JD-MBA/PA TAX (Management of Wine Businesses):
BAM: Business Administration and Management
MK: Marketing:
FI: Finance and Insurance
JD-BAM: Dual degree in Business Administration & Management and Law (Juris Doctor)
PA TAX: Public Administration and Taxation

 

To achieve the double degree, students must develop their End of Master Project according to a “Stage de professionnalisation” of 30 ECTS (between January and June) carried out at a winery and/or research centre in Bordeaux.

Access to doctoral studies: The master’s degree provides access to a PhD, specifically training students for the following PhD programmes: “Business Management, Knowledge and Innovation” and “Food Quality and Safety ”. The close collaboration with the University of Bordeaux means that students can undertake a jointly supervised PhD thesis.

Professional prospects: In a sector with a future, where professionals qualified in Oenology and in Management and Marketing techniques are increasingly in demand. The Master’s Degree can help you to update your knowledge and prepare you for re-insertion in the workplace, in positions such as:

  • Personnel specialised in various areas of the wine making business.
  • Economic and commercial management of wineries and wine businesses. 
  • Coordination of winery activities.

 

Collaborating entities: Important wineries and companies in the main wine-making regions in Spain and France; the Department for the Environment, Spatial Planning and Agriculture & Fisheries of the Basque Government; the Álava Provincial Council; the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council; the Basque Institute for Agricultural Research and Development (NEIKER); the Rioja Alavesa Winery Association (ABRA); AZTI - Tecnalia; DO Txakoli Araba, DO Txakoli Bizkaia, and DO Txakoli Gipuzkoa; among others.
