The Surfrider Foundation Europe in Biarritz hosted the third Ocean i3 international innovation workshop on 28 and 29 March.

The first day featured some activities, as well as action to combat plastic pollution in the oceans. The attendants to this first day were also able to participate in a role play on topics relating to the coastal conditioning/erosion.

Finally, the students were able to present their work relating to the Ocean i3 project.

During day two, teachers and students worked in two separate groups. Students from different disciplines (nursing, law, economy, sports management...) met to create an awareness-raising sheet/poster regarding students in different campuses. They also discussed, with the assistance of IKD GATzE students, the actions that will be taken in the next seminar in May.

Both teachers and students completed these two working days having become even more involved in the Ocean i3 project, with new solutions to further their own work.

Special attention to the use of languages

The workshop started with some recommended guidelines relating to language awareness, with a focus on current linguistic diversity (French, Spanish, Basque and English).

The work group, in parallel with the development of the Ocean i3 project itself, is being observed and analysed in this regard, with the intention of offering, on completion of the project, conclusions about the use of language in the cross-border environment and future recommendations, as well as a possible linguistic policy that facilitates interactions on both sides of the border.
