On 15 September, the progress report of the Euskampus project was presented to the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports.

The year 2013 has been key for the UPV-EHU Campus of International Excellence, a project that has been developed hand-in-hand with Corporación Tecnológica Tecnalia and the Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC). The Euskampus Campus of International Excellence seeks to consolidate an international academic space that is a benchmark in the European Atlantic axis. It pursues to internationally project a public, modern and top quality higher education model, which is reinforced and related to a rich network of institutions and agents that promote the research and transfer capacities to respond to the social, cultural and environmental challenges identified by the Research and Innovation Strategies for Smart Specialisation (RIS3) of the Basque Country, in harmony with the Europe 2020 Strategy.

The pillars supporting this project are the development of a community of Knowledge Hubs, the participation in alliances and networks with local and international entities, the consideration of Euskampus as a crucial asset in the deployment of the RIS3 strategy in the Basque Country, Euskampus Campus of International Excellence's contribution to the consolidation of the University of the Basque Country UPV-EHU within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) thanks to the consolidation of degree programmes in this space, the excellence of the postgraduate education portfolio (32 masters qualified as excellent by the Ministry of Education), a proprietary education model and the promotion of an entrepreneurial spirit.

Additionally, the Trans-frontier Campus of International Excellence EHUBAQ, a joint initiative with the University of Bordeaux, is a strategy that responds to the social and political demands of the Aquitaine-Basque Euroregion. Throughout this last year, the strategic actions plan has become operative, of which we must highlight:
Training through co-tutoring agreements, combined coordination of masters' degrees, joint participation in international projects, coordination among Euskampus Knowledge Poles and LabEx Excellence Clusters (Bordeaux) and the creation of a shared identity and digital presence.

Similarly, the scientific and statistical analysis of the aggregation of Euskampus shows an increase of 27% in scientific production, compared to 2009, with an average of 61% of papers published in first quartile journals. Furthermore, 80% of the resulting articles have been written in collaboration with other institutions, of which 51% are international institutions.

Following the excellent qualification obtained by the project Euskampus Campus of International Excellence in the 2012 progress report, Euskampus Fundazioa now faces the 2013 evaluation knowing that it is fulfilling its mission.
