Candidates with a PhD in Biology or in a similar field

Euskampus Fundazioa, a non-profit organisation established by the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), the TECNALIA RESEARCH & INNOVATION Foundation, the Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC) and the University of Bordeaux (UB), is looking to hire someone with a PhD in Biology or in a similar field to support research into biomaterials in ophthalmology, in the field of the identification of molecular biomarkers and development of neuroprotective biodegradable materials of the ocular surface within the Experimental Ophthalmology-Biology Group (GOBE) led by Dr. Elena Vecino and the POLYMAT Centre.


The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, amongst other things:


  • Advancement of the research line related to the design and characterisation of ocular surface biomarkers.
  • Present results of the research line to companies from the Basque industrial environment.
  • Support the creation of proposals for national and international projects.
  • Joint drafting and publications in prestigious international journals.


  • PhD in Biology or similar field of knowledge
  • Experience in the study of the ocular surface.
  • Experience in quantification through ocular marker ELISA.
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of English Basque desirable, but not essential


Other desirable requirements:

  • Autonomy, proactivity, and initiative.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Result-oriented.


We offer:

Immediate incorporation with a part-time (50%), project-based contract until 30 September 2019. Participation in a research line with great international potential within a multi-disciplinary group. Salary equivalent to that of a doctoral researcher at the UPV/EHU.
